9-28-2012 Lehi Pioneers 18 @ American Fork Cavemen 27 Recap

In a back and forth game, the Cavemen (3-4) were able to beat the Lehi Pioneers (2-5) 27-28 on Friday night.  The Cavemen jumped out to a 10 point lead early in the 2nd quarter, before Lehi responded with a TD and a two point conversion to make the score 10-8 at halftime.  Lehi opened up the second half with a FG taking the lead 11-10.  The Cavemen responded with a FG of their own by Tanner Lee, to take the lead back 13-11.  The Cavemen responded with a pair of touchdowns and went up 27 to 10 to take the lead for good.  Lehi scored one more time to finish the scoring with 27 to 18.  Touchdowns were scored by Chris Boone and Pini Katoa (2).

10-17-2012 Riverton Silverwolves 49 @ American Fork Cavemen 28 Recap

Riverton jumped out to an early lead and controlled most of this Region IV game.  Down 29 to 0 the Cavemen got on the board with a long Touchdown by Jonah Trinnaman.  The Cavemen also got on the board with two receiving touchdowns by Pini Katoa and one by Hayden Johnson.  Jeremy Evans had a nice game for the Cavemen, coming in and throwing for just over 300 yards on the night.

10-10-2012 American Fork Cavemen 21 vs Pleasant Grove Vikings 28 Recap

The Cavemen and Pleasant Grove met in a tough region battle on Friday night.  PG started the scoring by scoring on their opening drive, the Cavemen answer on their first drive with a 23 yard TD run by Pini Katoa.  PG and AF traded touchdowns, Jonah Trinnaman scored on a 43 yard touchdown run to tie the game 14-14, but the Vikings took the lead into halftime, 20-14.  Halfway through the 3rd quarter the defense scored a touchdown when Colby Smith recovered a PG fumble in the end zone, giving the Cavemen the lead 21-20.  PG scored the final TD of the game, and walked off the field with a 28 to 21 victory.  The Cavemen Defense played tough, interceptions by Tony Decker and Brandon Eldredge were key to keeping the Cavemen in a position to win.

8-23-2013 Brighton Bengals 41 @ American Fork Cavemen 28 Recap

The Cavemen battled tough but lost their opening contest of the year to Brighton 41-28.  Touchdowns were scored by Jonah Trinnaman, Jake Laycock, and Zach Katoa (2).  Jacen Condie was impressive in the air, throwing for over 300 yards.  Ben Cummings had a big interception just before halftime.  The Cavemen look to bounce back next week against Mountain Crest at home.

8-29-2013 Mountain Crest Mustangs 0 @ American Fork Cavemen (JV) 39 Recap

The JV Cavemen travled up to Hyrum and came won with a big win over the Mustangs.  Jace Miller was all over the field, picking up a fumble for a touchdown and returning an interception down to the two yard line.  Jace was also a big contributor on offense.  McKay Miller had a big touchdown catch and Tanner Smith was impressive at QB.  The Cavemen look to improve next week at home against Orem.

8-30-2013 American Fork Cavemen 35 vs Mountain Crest Mustangs 14 Recap

The Cavemen jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter, and went on to score on their first four offensive possessions.  The defense came up with big plays on 4th down: forcing turnovers on downs, Parker Menlove had a big interception, and Jade Luker picked up a fumble that was caused by Riley Smith.  Touchdowns were scored by Zach Katoa (2), Jade Luker, Hayden Johnson, and Jonah Trinnaman.  The Cavemen take to the road next week to face Orem. 

9-5-2013 Orem Tigers 12 @ American Fork Cavemen (So) 14 Recap

American Fork Sophomores traveled to Orem to take on the Orem Tiger Sophomore Football team.   The Cavemen were able to prevail with rushing touchdowns from Chase Stucki and Josh Johnson.   Joseph Palu and Tanner Shepard lead the way defensively disrupting Orem’s Backfield.  Throughout the game Coleson Worley grabbed some tough receptions to keep the chains moving.  Scotty Hughes was all over the field defensively.

9-5-2013 American Fork Cavemen (JV) 35 vs Orem Tigers 7 Recap

The Cavemen beat the Orem Tigers in the JV home opener on Thursday with a 35-

7 victory led by Jordan Price’s 211 total yards. and 3 TD’s.  Tanner Smith was 10

for 13 for 133 yards and 3 TD’s through the air, with Grayson Granley, Garrett

Pervis,  and Big Mike Richardson joining Jordan Price with receptions.   Birthday

Boy Mason Robbenolt also ran in a TD in the second half. Defensively the Cavemen

had turnovers grabbed by Bennion Brown, Hayden Bowden, Jeremy Jensen, McKay

Strong and Jordan Price, along with Garrett Pervis sacking the Orem QB in their end

zone for a safety.

9-6-2013 Orem Tigers 7 @ American Fork Cavemen 53 Recap

The Cavemen took over the game on Friday night, from the opening kickoff, and never let up!  The Cavemen scored on a 5 yard run from Zach Katoa on their opening drive.  Then forced Orem to a 3-and-out, and returned the punt down to the 3 yard line.  From there, Katoa punched it again, making it 14-0 with just over 5 minutes gone in the game.  The Cavemen then poured it, scoring touchdowns by Jonah Trinnaman, Riley Smith, Hayden Johnson, Jade Luker, and Michael Richardson.  The defense was physical and relentless in their pursuit of the Orem quarterback.  Orem struggled to move the ball all night.  The Cavemen head into region 2-1, and look to bring home their first region victory this Friday night at home against Riverton.

9-12-2013 Riverton Silverwolves 41 @ American Fork Cavemen (JV) 49 Recap

The American Fork JV team pushed their record to 3-0 with a 49-41 win at Riverton on Thursday. The shoot out was lead by Jace Miller who scored 3 TD’s in the game and had 2 turnovers on Def.  QB Tanner Smith was 15-25 for 247 yards, 3 TD’s and 3 INT’s.   TD’s were caught by Jace Miller who had 72 yards receiving, Joe Price with 54 yards receiving, and Big Mike Richardson who also had 72 yards receiving.  Garret Purvis, Grayson Granley and Mckay Miller also had grabs in the game.

 

Nate Honey led the Rushing attack with 80 yards and 2 TD’s, Jace Miller added 69 on the ground and a TD, and Tanner Smith rushed for an additional 20.

 

Special Teams played a big role, as Jackson Nadauld was 7-7 on PAT’s, Hayden Bowden recovered a short Kick Off to put the Cavemen in great field position and Jace Miller returned a Kick off for a TD.  Riley Phillips also blocked a punt in the 4th quarter to set up another Caveman TD, and late in the 4th punter Hayden Bowden was able to pin the Silverwolves on their own 11 yard line making it so they had to drive 89 yards to be in a position to tie the game.

 

Defensively Jace Miller recovered a fumble on the Riverton 5 yard line to set up Nate Honey for 1 of his 2 TD’s, as well as closing out the game with and INT on Riverton’s final drive, to keep them out of the end zone.

9-12-2013 American Fork Cavemen (So) 27 vs Riverton Silverwolves 29 Recap

The Riverton High Sophomore team traveled to American Fork.  The Cavemen fell behind early 22-7, but played tremendously the 2nd half and almost pulled out the win.  The end score was 29-27 for Riverton.  The Cavemen failed on a 2-point conversion late in the game to tie it up.  On offense Scotty Hughes threw 4 touchdowns passes.  Coleson Worley had 2 TD receptions, Hunter Hall had 1 TD reception, and Chase Stucki had 1 TD reception.   On Defense Tanner Shepard and Coleson Worley lead the team in tackles.  Tanner  Shimanek forced 2 fumbles.

9-13-2013 American Fork Cavemen 28 vs Riverton Silverwolves 25 Recap

Riverton jumped out to an early 12-0 lead against the Cavemen on Homecoming night this past Friday.  The Cavemen battled back to take the lead 14-12, with 2 minutes in the half.  Riverton quickly moved back down the field and retook the lead, 18-14 at halftime.  The Cavemen scored on their opening possession of the 2nd Half to capture the 2nd Half momentum, and take the lead 21-18.  Again, Riverton answer with another TD of their own.  After a fumbled Punt Return, the Caveman used great field position to score their 4th touchdown of the night and take the lead for good, 28-25.  The defense put together two huge defensive stands late in the 4th quarter to seal the victory for the Cavemen.  Touchdowns were scored by Riley Smith (2) and Lopini Katoa (2).  Jade Luker had an interceptions and Kyle Baugh and Hayden Bowden both recovered big fumbles for the Cavemen.  The Cavemen look to earn their second region win this Friday night at Westlake.

9-20-2013 Westlake Thunder 0 @ American Fork Cavemen 42 Recap

The Cavemen dominated all aspects of last week's victory at Westlake High School.  Jade Luker got the scoring going with a 25 yard interception return for a TD.  Jacen Condie connected with Hayden Johnson for the 2nd touchdown of the night and from there the Cavemen started rolling.  Hayden caught 9 passes for 128 yards, Zach Katoa had 3 TDs on the night, while rushing for 150 yards and receiving for 92.  The defense played great, completing their first shut out of the season.  This win moves the Cavemen to 2-0 in Region play, heading into a big Friday night at Lone Peak!

9-19-2013 American Fork Cavemen (JV) 59 vs Westlake Thunder 18 Recap

The Cavemen made quick work of the Thunder on Thur. going up 35-0 in the first quarter on their way to a 59-18 win.



Jace Miller took the opening play of the game 66 yards around the right side to start the landslide for the Cavemen.  Garrett Purvis picked off a Thunder pass 3 plays later and returned it for an TD, to extend the lead to 14.  On the next position Tanner Smith hit Jordan Price for the first of Jordan’s 3 TD’s on the day.  After stopping the Thunder’s next drive, Tanner Smith hit Nate Honey on a 42 yard TD pass for Nate’s first TD of the day.  Mckay Strong stopped the Thunder’s ensuing drive with another INT, which Nate Honey running the ball in for a 35-0 first quarter score.  Hayden Bowden stepped in at QB and hit Jordan Price for his 2nd TD to start the 2nd Quarter to give the Cavemen a 42-7 halftime lead.



The 2nd half was more of the same for the Cavemen, Riley Phillips blocked a Thunder Punt to set up Jackson Nadauld FG, Austin Griffiths added another INT for the Defense and Hayden Bowden was able to run in a TD and hit Jordan price for his 3rd TD of the Day.

9-26-2013 American Fork Cavemen (JV) 40 vs Lone Peak Knights 12 Recap

American Fork JV continued their undefeated season on Thur. with a 40-12 victory against visiting Lone Peak.



Offensively the Cavemen threw for 189 yards, with Tanner Smith throwing TD’s to Grayson Granley and Garrett Purvis.  Jordan Price and Mike Richardson also caught passes in the game.  The Cavemen also rushed for 196 yards with Jace Miller getting the bulk of the work for 118 yards and 4 TD’s, Nate Honey added a TD in the second half.



Defensively the Cavemen made life very difficulty for the Lone Peak offense with 6 sacks, 9 tackles for loss and INT’s from Garret Purvis, Jordan Price and Jace Miller.

9-19-2013 American Fork Cavemen (So) 42 vs Westlake Thunder 8 Recap

Cavemen Sophomores Win Big!!!!



The Westlake High Sophomore team traveled to American Fork.  The Cavemen used a strong effort on offense and defense to claim the victory 42-8.   On offense Chase Stucki had a TD run , Coleson Worley had 2 TD receptions, and Tyler Peterson hauled in a TD catch  On Defense Scotty Hughes and Coleson Worley each returned an interception for a TD.  The Cavemen Defense wreaked havoc all night long causing 4 turnovers.

9-27-2013 Lone Peak Knights 21 @ American Fork Cavemen 14 Recap

The Cavemen dropped a close battle with Lone Peak on Friday Night, 21-14.  The Cavemen benefited from great field position after a Riley Smith interception, and scored 3 plays later on a 6 yard run by Zack Katoa.  In the 4th Quarter, Tanner Smith connected with Hayden Johnson for a beautiful 11 yard TD in the end zone.  Jonah Trinnaman had 8 catches for 133 yards on the night.  Ben Cummings picked up a fumble and returned it 30 yards for the Cavemen.  The Cavemen take on Herriman this Friday night in a big region match-up.

10-3-2013 Herriman Mustangs 21 @ American Fork Cavemen (JV) 35 Recap

A short handed American Fork JV team traveled to Herriman on Thursday and despite losing 2 key players in the first quarter they were able to extend their unbeaten record to 6-0 with a 35-21 victory over the Mustangs.

 

Tanner Smith was 23/39 for 387 yards passing and 4 TD’s, 2 of them caught by “Basketball” Nate Robinson & 2 more by Nate Honey who also added a TD on the ground.   Tanner was also able to hook up with “Big Mike” Richardson, McKay Miller, Garret Pervis, Greyson Granley and Hayden Bowden who all had big catches in the game.

 

The difference in the game may have been special teams, with the Cavemen able to recover 2 onside kicks, block 1 punt, and stop a fake punt by Herriman in the 4th quarter.

10-4-2013 American Fork Cavemen 38 vs Herriman Mustangs 36 Recap

The Caveman came out on top on Friday night against a very tough Herriman team, by the final score of 38-36.  The Cavemen got on the board first with a beautiful 60 yard TD pass from Jacen Condie to Hayden Johnson.  The Cavemen took their first lead of the night on a 78 yard run from Zach "Pini" Katoa.  Herriman answered but Jonah Trinnaman took the ensuing kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown to take the lead right back.  The Cavemen went into halftime leading 21-20.  Hunter Johnson kicked a FG in the 3rd Quarter to secure a 24-20 lead entering the 4th Quarter.  Herriman scored two TD's to take a ten point lead with 9 minutes remaining in the game.  The Cavemen responded with two scoring drives to pull ahead with 1 minute on the clock.  Tanner Smith hit Zach Katoa and Jonah Trinniman on TD passes to secure the win for the Cavemen.  The win moves the Cavemen to 3-1 in the region, and 5-2 overall.  The Cavemen have a quick turnaround and take on the Lehi Pioneers this Wed. night at home.

10-3-2013 American Fork Cavemen (So) 13 vs Herriman Mustangs 21 Recap

The Herriman Sophomore football team traveled to American Fork to take on the Cavemen.  The Cavemen raced out to an early 6-0 lead thanks to Coleson Worley’s interception and his touchdown reception. Herriman then scored 21 straight points before Chase Stucki scored a rushing touchdown to make it 21-13.  The Cavemen had their chances in the final minutes to tie the game but came up unsuccessful.
